Payment and Refund Policy
Last updated: 03 November 2026
Scope of the Policy and Covered Services
This Payment and Refund Policy applies to all purchases of courses, workshops, training modules, and related digital resources offered through wordilyx. The services centre on professional development in live television production, including studio equipment integration, dynamic camera techniques, acoustic optimisation, lighting setups, and reliable production processes for news programmes, interviews, and live shows. It covers both one-time course access and any subscription-based learning paths. The policy governs transactions made by customers located in the United Kingdom and explains how payments are handled, when contracts are formed, and under what conditions refunds may be issued. It does not extend to third-party platforms or physical goods unless explicitly stated in a separate agreement.
Prices, Currencies, Taxes, and Additional Charges
All prices on the website are displayed in British Pounds Sterling (GBP) and include value added tax (VAT) at the prevailing UK rate where applicable. Course fees are fixed at the time of purchase and reflect the current pricing for digital content delivery. Additional charges may arise for optional extras such as extended access periods, certification fees, or supplementary materials. These extras are clearly itemised before payment is authorised. wordilyx reserves the right to adjust prices for new enrolments, but existing confirmed bookings remain at the originally agreed rate. Currency conversion fees charged by the customer’s bank or card issuer are the customer’s responsibility and are not reimbursed.
Accepted Payment Methods, Authorisation, and Security
Payments are accepted via major credit and debit cards, bank transfers, and approved digital wallets. All transactions are processed through secure third-party payment gateways that comply with PCI DSS standards. Payment authorisation occurs immediately upon submission of order details. wordilyx does not store full card details. In the event of a payment failure due to insufficient funds or incorrect details, the customer receives an automatic notification and is invited to retry. Security measures include encryption of all payment data in transit and compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 for any personal information collected during checkout.
Order Confirmation and Contract Formation
A contract is formed when the customer completes the checkout process and receives an order confirmation email containing a unique reference number. This email constitutes acceptance of the offer by wordilyx. Until confirmation is issued, no binding agreement exists. Customers should retain the confirmation for their records, as it details the specific course access granted, start dates where applicable, and the full amount paid. Any discrepancies must be reported within 48 hours of receipt.
Cancellation Rights and Applicable Periods
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, UK consumers generally have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of contract formation during which they may cancel without providing a reason. For digital content such as course videos and interactive modules, cancellation rights may be lost once download or streaming begins if the customer has expressly consented to immediate performance. Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time before the next billing cycle to avoid further charges, but partial refunds for unused periods are subject to the eligibility rules below.
Refund Eligibility, Exclusions, and Non-Refundable Items
Refunds are available for cancellations made within the statutory 14-day period provided no substantial content has been accessed. Courses that have been fully or partially viewed, downloaded, or completed are generally non-refundable. Promotional or discounted bundles, gift vouchers, and third-party certification fees are excluded from refund eligibility. Refunds are not granted for changes of mind after the cooling-off period or for failure to meet personal expectations regarding course difficulty. In cases of proven technical fault preventing access, a partial or full refund may be considered at the discretion of wordilyx.
Procedure to Request a Refund and Required Information
To request a refund, customers must submit a written request via the contact form on the Contacts page or by emailing enquiries@salford.ac.uk. The request should include the order reference number, full name, email address associated with the purchase, date of purchase, and a brief explanation of the reason. Supporting evidence, such as screenshots of access issues, may be requested. Requests received outside the eligible period or lacking required details will be returned for completion, potentially delaying any decision.
Inspection, Approval, Rejection, and Notification
Upon receipt, wordilyx reviews each refund request within ten working days. The review examines whether the statutory cooling-off period applies, whether content has been accessed, and whether any exclusions are relevant. Customers are notified of the outcome by email. Approved refunds proceed to processing; rejected requests receive a clear explanation citing the relevant policy section. Customers may appeal a rejection once by providing additional information within seven days of the decision.
Refund Method, Processing Time, and Receipt of Funds
Refunds are issued using the original payment method wherever possible. Processing typically takes five to ten working days after approval, although bank processing times may extend this to fourteen days for certain card issuers. Customers receive confirmation once the refund has been initiated. If funds have not appeared after twenty working days, the customer should contact enquiries@salford.ac.uk for further investigation.
Special Rules for Digital Content, Subscriptions, and Promotional Offers
Digital courses are delivered immediately upon payment confirmation. By ticking the consent box at checkout, customers acknowledge that the right to cancel within 14 days is waived once access begins. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least seven days before the renewal date. Promotional offers are subject to the same refund rules as standard purchases unless the offer explicitly states otherwise. No refunds are provided for partially used subscription periods after the cooling-off window.
Failed Payments, Duplicate Charges, Chargebacks, and Suspected Fraud
Failed payments must be resolved within seven days to maintain course access. Duplicate charges are investigated upon notification and corrected by refund or credit within five working days. Chargeback requests are treated as disputes and may result in temporary suspension of access pending resolution. Suspected fraudulent activity triggers immediate account review and may lead to permanent termination without refund. Customers are encouraged to report any unauthorised transactions promptly to their card issuer and to enquiries@salford.ac.uk.
Mandatory Consumer Rights That Cannot Be Excluded
Nothing in this policy affects the customer’s statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to services of satisfactory quality and the right to a remedy where services are not as described. UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 continue to govern data handling independently of this policy. Any clause that attempts to limit these rights is void.
Contact Route, Policy Changes, and Final Provisions
Questions regarding this policy should be directed to enquiries@salford.ac.uk or via the contact form on the Contacts page. wordilyx may update the policy from time to time to reflect legislative changes or operational adjustments. The version date at the top of the page indicates the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
